General discription

In our showroom SOON :

This unique semi-survivor, LOW MILE & all original 1967 Shelby GT500 Automatic in the desirable Brittany blue metallic factory color, and equipped with many options.

The car is one of only around 672 Automatics 67'Shelby GT500's ever produced and its one of aprox only 50 Automatic cars in this color and only around 15 ! Produced with this interior. Combined with this cars rare options it might be one of 4-5 ever produced!.

Brittany blue metallic is just one of the best colors on these cars as it makes the car's lines and shapes stand out more than on any other color. This combined with its Shelby GT500 side stripes and added Racing stripes just make it a very good-looking car and for sure one of the best designed muscle cars of its time.

In 1967 the all new Shelby GT500 was the first and ever Shelby model that received the famous FE 428 Big block engine as not even Ford installed these in their Mustangs yet (not until 1968). Carroll Shelby tuned the engine with some special components like a special intake with 2x4 bbl Holley carbs and a special air intake, and tweaked the engine to higher power outputs. The nickname for this 67' motor was the "Police interceptor"seeing it was very fast and strong. Carroll also changed many other components of the car and gave it its own special appearance. The complete car was build and developed with performance in mind just like it's predecessors the famous 65' and '66 GT350 cars and his Cobra's.

With its special nose pieces and trim, the lightweight hood and trunk lid, the roll cage and 4 point seatbelts, the rear brake air vents ( early models only), special Shelby steering wheel, upgraded suspension and handling packages and more, the 1967 Shelby GT500 and also the small block GT350 were unique cars that were ready to be used for the track and on the streets and the all really carried Caroll's race pedigree, and they looked very promising to be used as race thorough breads as well. Sadly Ford pulled the plug on the race budgets for 1967 and Shelby alone couldn't finance it on his own. A story most of the Shelby fans all know to well.

Later on in 1967 it was therefor also decided that Shelby cars should no longer be produced at Carroll's own facility but all production was moved to Ford. Therefor the 67'models are the last true Shelby developed and built cars. As from 1968 and on all Shelby models were produced in Ford's own facilities, making the earlier models amongst the most desirable and valuable cars around. They are really special and were the last Shelby's that still carried the racing background and pedigree.

The 65-1967 Shelby's were all build for those who wanted and could afford a performance car that they could drive on the track on Sunday, and take to work on Monday something really rare back in the days. And that's something the first owner of this rare car understood and appreciated like no other. And that's also exactly what makes these rare and great looking cars so desirable up until today. The GT500's drove fantastic and the 428 was a very powerful engine with great torque.

Finding an untouched true 67 Shelby GT500 is already something very rare these days, and this car is a true, documented 26000! lom mile car. That's probably also the reason why this car has survived all these years in its current condition. The car spend its entire live in the dry and sunny states and was sold new to its first owner E. Barnato in California through the Ford San Jose Dist office's. After that according to the Shelby registry, the car was sold in around 1997 to its second owner who lived in Oregon, another dry and sunny state.

So the first owner who had the car for more than 30 years, hardly had ever driven the car and the second owner did not either. We were told he had plans to restore the car but just never got around to it. Then a few years ago he had the drivetrain rebuild and upgraded and the car received a fresh new high quality paint job with the Shelby white racings stripes added ( Shelby never applied the racing stripes from his factory, all are dealer or owner applied ) which looks amazing. But seeing his old age he decided the car needed a good home as he just never got around to drive and enjoy it and the mileage was still low when we heard of the car and got the change to buy it recently. So the car is an official 2 owner car, which makes it rare, especially combined with its low mileage from new !.

The car is overall in amazing condition, and it's completely ready to be driven and enjoyed. Its overall quality is driver, semi-survivor with a show quality paint, and were in the process of considering giving the car a light overall restoration and to detail it to a higher grade, but for now that's not yet decided, but on request we can discuss this also with its future new potential owner.

Besides the fact that this rare time capsule has all its important Shelby components, like the fiberglass hood, trunk lid and scoops still in place, the complete interior is bone stock original as well and no aftermarket or incorrect pieces were found. But the most important thing what we could now confirm is that the complete engine, all its components, including the rare and unique dual quad intake and its dual BJ/BK coded Holley carbs (unique for 67' Shelby's), the radiator and all details were left untouched and are original to the car.

The engine is inspected by us and its in fantastic condition, all original and correct and so is the transmission and rest of the drivetrain. The car's is in a fantastic all original body and chassis condition and still equipped with its factory drivetrain and interior and all its factory options. That's just unique and all is documented and checked by us.

The rest of the car is also in very solid and original condition. The frame rails are in as new condition and the rest of the underside also still carries its original pieces. The factory floor panels and trunk area all appear to be in very healthy condition due to the fact that this Shelby was always garage stored and only driven in the dry and sunny state's all of its life. This is just a very fine example of a true and really original Shelby GT500.

The car also carries all of its original trim, emblems, grill, bumpers, taillights and lenses, and they are all undamaged but could be in need of a resto or freshen up if so desired. The car is also nicely equipped with all the options you could choose from in 1967.

The fact that this car is also a desirable "early production"car that still carries the inboard fog lights in the grill and has the functional side scoops with air vents that run to the rear brakes. Later car's lost these special details.

This car is for sale only in combination with a mild restoration and detailing performed by our shop, and is an amazing candidate for it. The car was never ever on the market before and is a true rare find car. The car is of course in the SAAC Shelby registry, and comes with a Marti report to show its pedigree.

If any, this special Shelby GT500 deserves a upgraded and more detailed restoration and once done the future owner will have a car that is not only one of the most original Shelby's around, but also one that will have a fully documented restoration performed on it. This combined with its history and special background makes this Shelby very desirable and collectible indeed. As all this adds to the car's rarity and value, but more important the fun to own and drive sucha rare car with a great history.

We can walk you around the car and show you all the important and original details and of course all the cars history and documentations. On request, we can also send you more details or make a live phone/video walk around on it.

This in combination with your change to see and follow the cars' restoration live in person as well as it will be documented by us for you along the process. This is the only way to assure yourself of buying the best car you can get and that protect your investment as well. You can be sure PTTM will restore this great classic to its factory correct style and in concourse quality as we have restored many award-winning Shelby's and other great classics in the past 35 years.

The big advantage of having a car you like restored or upgraded to a higher level of quality, instead of buying a ready and done, possible restored one, is the fact that you can really see what's all hidden under the glossy paint and see in every detail how your car is and going to be once its done. There are so many "restored" cars out there that are just no more than a nice fresh paint job over hidden rot and rust, and engines and drive lines that are treated the same, a nice fresh paint on them, but actually are just old worn pieces internally and not pro-rebuilt at all. There is just no way in really knowing in what you buy, and you might buy cheaper, but in the end you might have bought yourself a piece of crap which will ruin your fun and your investment.

With cars like this one it's also really important that they are truly original and with this car being an honest and real 2 owner survivor car you just can't ever go wrong. Besides that we will provide you with full documentation of all the original and correct components that are on it before, during, and after its restoration and everything will be documented. This way you will know that you are investing in the best possible car you can get with actual proof of it all.

And that combined with a complete map of all the cars history and originality and high-end professional restoration is exactly where the differences are in the actual value of any classic car, and you just can't compare this car against just any other Shelby you might see for sale on today's market that doesn't have all this documentation and this high level or restoration.

So if you're looking to get something really special and unique with actual proof of its restoration and history and that's also a safe investment for your money, then with the car we present to you here combined with a restoration we will perform on it, you just can't go wrong.

And that's all besides the fact that the road of getting your own personal Shelby GT500 and watching it to get restored and upgraded in the best possible condition, with details exactly the way you like them, also just adds great excitement and fun. And the day that it's finally ready, and you get handed over the keys of the car and drive it for the first time is the day that you will understand just how special it is to having your own very special and unique personal car restored. It creates a special bond between you and your car that you will never have with a car you bought turn key.

Price as stated, is for the car as is, and as stated in the above, it is only for sale in combination with a upgrade mild restoration performed by our shop in cooperation with its future new owner. On request, we will of course make you a quote for that separately all depending on your own personal quality expectations and detailing. As stated, the car itself and its complete drivetrain is in good condition already, and it run's and drives.

  • Guide: Matching numbers

In the collector car hobby, most investment-minded buyers are acutely interested in a specific car’s history. One of the main aspects of that history is an original or, as most people state it, numbers-matching drivetrain. At pedaltothemetal muscecars we feature a plethora of original and numbers-matching classics including ‘Cudas, Road Runners, Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes and Trans Ams. And, if a potential buyer knows how to properly identify and interpret certain manufacturing codes, they can further validate their car’s history, or on request we can provide it.
