General discription

New in our showroom!

This numbers matching! 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner in stunning rotisserie restored condition! It is a very rare car with factory original air grabber hood car and it comes with its original build sheet and all body and drivetrain Vin numbers still intact. This car is also loaded with many special factory options and in the stunning factory original GY3 high impact curious Yellow color with factory strobe stripes.

The car is completely restored to the best possible quality standards and is just as nice and detailed underneath as like the rest of the car. Just one rare bird! And a great car to drive and enjoy and show off. We estimate that more than 80000,- was invested in the restoration alone (without the car itself) and the car is now for sale for only a fraction or that. It is a very collectible car and also a true investment grade piece.

The car still carries all its factory correct components and options and its body, structure, floors all appear to be untouched and factory original pieces that never had any rust or damages. This is really one of the best and most original 71 RR cars we ever had the pleasure of having in our showroom. Really rare for a 45+ year classic. The paint on the car is also stunning and all its trim and chrome, glass and the complete interior are restored to make this car look just like the day it left the factory. The underside of this car is just as clean and carries all the correct details and pieces as the topside! STUNNING, just like it was back in 1971.

The 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner was a complete newly designed car and featured many new design features back in the day and the 383 4bbl big block was by that the biggest engine it could be had with. With 335HP it held its own and was still a true big block Muscle car beast. If you wanted the 440cui engine you had to buy the Plymouth GTX as in the roadrunner it was just not available. The GTX was a more deluxe version of the roadrunner and a more a gentlemen's car as were the Roadrunner was a more genuine street racer.

Most Roadrunners that left the factory were very basic cars with almost no deluxe or any other special options added when sold as most young buyers just couldn't afford them. Their target was to have a real Muscle car in the first place and options were not in their budget.

The were also drawn to the car because of a great marketing concept Plymouth had with the Roadrunner name which came originally from the cartoon series with Wil-E-Coyote and the Roadrunner bird chasing one another around every time, the car got a name and image of being fast and not catchable. The added special emblems and Roadrunner decals on the car and even the Horn of these cars made sort of a Miep miep sound once the horn button was used. So all in all these cars' were much fun to own and had a great image and attraction to the muscle car public of the late 60s and early 70s.

This car we present to you here is, very rarely also equipped with many additional factory options such as the highly desirable Air grabber hood that has a hood scoop that can be opened and closed with a special button inside the car and which is vacuum operated. It's also equipped with the desirable Bucket seat interior with floor shifter and console instead of a bench seat and column shifter as most cars have. Other options are Power front brakes and power steering and not to forget its painted in the factory original high impact paint color scheme which added even more costs to this cars price tag.

Everything on this car is factory correct and its also very detailed inside and out. From the engine bay with its numbers match engine, its numbers match transmission, the rear axle and all suspension and steering components and the complete interior is all as it left the factory back in 1971. Very amazing and rare indeed.

If you are looking for a real original, solid and restored Mopar icon then surely this car must be of interest to you. For its asking price you won't ever be able to find a better one, let alone a completely restored matching number car with al its special features such as this one. And the hidden gem on this car is not only its looks or general condition which are all just perfect, but its best feature might be that it runs, drives, steers and brakes amazing and just like the day it left the showroom floor. So it's not all show. But also a real GO car that's ready to be enjoyed for many tens of thousand more miles to come.

The car will give you many spectators and thumbs up on any parking lot or on car shows or concourse events and changes are for most people that he never ever have seen such an iconic car before in their lives. So changes that you will meet a car that's the same as yours are almost 0%.

  • Guide: Matching numbers

In the collector car hobby, most investment-minded buyers are acutely interested in a specific car’s history. One of the main aspects of that history is an original or, as most people state it, numbers-matching drivetrain. At pedaltothemetal muscecars we feature a plethora of original and numbers-matching classics including ‘Cudas, Road Runners, Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes and Trans Ams. And, if a potential buyer knows how to properly identify and interpret certain manufacturing codes, they can further validate their car’s history, or on request we can provide it.

  • Vehicle claims and descriptions

Vehicle/product descriptions, representations and claims on or offline are based on what can be seen by the human eye, documentation, previous professional experience, opinion, factory claims, and, or, information passed on to us by previous owners or restorers. It's to the best of our knowledge that everything we advertise has all indications of being that claim. Please inquire as to what documentation we have on the vehicle you are purchasing or feel free to ask any additional questions you might have, But by no means you can accept our answers as facts as the are our interpretation and might not match yours. It is with integrity and honesty that we describe our cars, but they are in fact, up to 50 years old, may have had many previous owners, modifications or alterations that are unknown to the us, so it's not possible to verify everything about every car in detail. Thereby the stated conditions or details of a car can never ever be taken as a fact. As always we welcome personal inspections and or independent appraisers prior to a sale. Incase we speak of "Original" or "Matching numbers" it means that we asume that to be the case, but with old classic cars thats by no means a guarantee. So please feel free to verify that in person or with a third party.

Pttm goes a step further than almost every other seller(s), as we also do a full inspection of our vehicles prior to having them for sale in our showroom and make repairs improvements if needed so. And when a vehicle/product is sold we give it a full service check before you receive it !
