This numbers matching! 1967 Chevy Corvette Stingray coupe in the gorgeous Lynndale blue metallic paint with matching interior. This second generation is equipped with the fastest engine Chevy had to offer back then, the legendary 427 Bigblock with 3x2 carbs (also called Tri-carb) that has an amazing 435 HP, hooked up to a 4-speed manual transmission.
For sure and without a doubt, this car is one of the holy grail's of all classic and maybe even more modern Corvette's.
The car is all original, numbers matching and comes with its factory original Tank sticker and a repro window sticker. A very rare and highly desirable investment grade car. It was restored in early 2010/11 to NCRS standards with a certificate and it's currently being upgraded and re-detailed and completely high-end repainted in our shop
as we felt the quality of it all just could be done better. The matching blue/gray interior is just plain stunning and in as-new but still very original and correct condition. The dash and its gauges were also completely restored and it shows just like the day it left the showroom from when it was new.
The car is a high-quality show car but also build to be driven and enjoyed so its not a trailer queen. With the base engine for the 1967 model year being a 327cui small block that produced 300HP, the next best thing was the 350 HP version of that same engine design. The next choice was the 427 Big block with 390HP, then the 400 HP and then the 435HP 3x2 version that this car is equipped with. With a whopping price tag on the options list of 437,- USD (10% of the base car price) many buyers couldn't afford it and that makes this car pretty rare. The total price tag, with all its options, was 5650,- USD For that money, you could buy two well equipped Chevy Camaro's!
In this rare one year only (67) color combination and with all these options and an almost complete new build car it is a real one of a kind Musclecar. This is one of the rarest and best-looking colors for this C2 Corvette and really make the sharp body lines stand out. With only 8500 units built, it is estimated that only around 480 coupes were produced in this color, and combined with its teal blue/gray interior and the cars factory original options its likely one of a handful ever produced. And how many of them would be equipped with one of the strongest and best engines Chevy produced? Only around 1200 units of all coupe's got equipped with the Legendary L71 engine. You really need to see this car live to be able to apriciate it at its best.
The car is equipped with one of the fastest factory engines Chevy ever produced in a Corvette, the famous L71 427 Bigblock with its unique 3x2 carb and intake set up it produced a stunning 435HP! A number that was only broken by the Corvette ZR1 a few decades later! That makes this car a real performance icon and highly sought after. Hooked up to a manual close ratio 4-speed transmission it means that this car has almost all of that power on its rear axle and is great fun to drive. With its optional off-road exhaust system (option code N11) this Corvette also sounds amazing and has a fantastic V8 roar. The car is also equipped with the optional posi rear axle with 3,70 gears and which makes it even faster and safer to drive as well.
And as many Corvette enthusiasts and car journalist stated back in 1967, the factory given HP number was probably much higher than the factory put in writing. For real these engines produced closer to 475/500HP, proof for that was that this particular Corvette coupe did the standing 1/4 mile in 13 seconds and the 0-60 mph was done in 5 seconds! And believe us, that was fast back in 1967, and it might well be the fastest muscle car ever produced in those days. Only maybe the 90's Corvette ZR1 was faster, but that's more than 23 years later! Unique right ?
Besides all that, the Chevy 427 Tri-Carb is a true performance icon and a very respectable engine in any form.
The car that we present to you here is also completely restored and the engine and rest of the drive line fully rebuild and its in very good overall condition and as stated equipped with its factory and vin stamped engine and transmission and comes with its original Tank sticker to back up that all of its options are factory original. Something that you cant proof on any Corvette, matching or not, without that important document, as cowl tags and plates can be reproduced.
It is just the best and most original car you can buy, besides maybe another L71 car that's not equipped with all their original components anymore and with a color change or/and in much poorer condition. Also be aware that because of the fact that these cars are rare and highly collectible, that there are also many clones and fake L71 cars on the market today which might look the real deal but are not, and buying or finding cheap is almost always getting cheap.
We feel that the second generation Corvette's (1963/1967) are the most beautiful Corvette's ever produced and there also one of the best-looking sports cars of all times with there unique Stingray black detailed hoods (67 big block only) and 5 piece side scoops and many other special details. And with the 1967 model year is the last year of its production its also the best, best looking and fastest second gen's Corvette. Sure the 1963 Split window's are also very desirable and collectible, but besides the fact that they are also more expensive, the overall performance of the first model year is poorer than the 67' models.
We have seen correct L71 cars getting sold for well over the 200k marker and professional Corvette car appraisers and market watchers like Hagerty estimate the value of these rare cars at 215-225K easy.. And that's not even keeping in account that cars in the right color combo and equipped with there matching numbers drivetrains might bring even much more than that figure. This car however with all the correct components, its fully original and pedigree proven drive train and stunning and rare color combination is priced well below these prices which not only leaves room for growth for its future owner but might well be a unique car on the current market today. So if your looking for a great investment which in return also gives fun and great pride to its new owner, well than this car might just be the pefect ticket for you.
For it's asking price you will get and amazing looking unique Corvette, and one of the fastest production Corvette's ever released, and in a rare color combination that looks stunning and gets thumbs up everywhere you take it or show it.
