General discription

1969 Ford Mustang Fastback - R code Mach1 428 SCJ big block car is fantastic and all original condition. Finding a real 69' Mach 1 in good condition is rare, but finding the king of kings, the Super Cobra Jet with its 428 big block is even rarer! This car is one of only very few builds that was equipped from the factory with its SCJ engine and Dragpack 3,91 V code axle package. PTTM is very proud to present this great and rare car to its clients.

With only around 2500 R code Mach 1's build in 1969 this car is already in a very rare league, but with its Dragpack 3,91 rear end axle and special performance parts and SCJ engine, and its automatic transmission is believed to be one of only around 2-300 ever produced cars, and if you then also would consider its rare color its maybe one of a handful ever to be produced.  For a Mustang that's like finding a holy grail of rare Ford muscle cars.

The car's additional bonus is the fact that it also painted in its factory original and very desirable Gulfstream aqua metallic paint, a color that really makes the Mach1 fastback stand out. The 1969 Mustang Mach1 is believed to be one of the best-looking Mustangs ever produced. With its dual headlights special grill and the three-piece taillights and sharp lines and especially in this color it is hard to argue with that.

The first owner must have thought the same when he ordered the car back in 1968/69. He also new exactly what he wanted and that was a true performance car that would hold its own on the streets and stop lights, maybe he even ordered the car for drag racing on Sunday and cruising home on Monday, as the car was, at the time, about the best that Ford had to offer to its clients. With its 428 big block, shaker equipped, Super Cobra Jet engine, its C6 automatic transmission and especially its race purpose build 3.91 geared Dragpack as options must have meant the owner really wanted to have one of the fastest cars around. Its lack of many deluxe items on the options list also clearly indicates that.

And although he must left a small fortune on the counter of the Brandywine Ford Dealership in Newark DE on January the 27th of 1969 for this expensive car, as we learn from the Marti-report that comes with the car. He apparently never really raced the car later on in its life as it is in the way to nice and all original condition up until today for that.

Everything on this car still appears to be factory original, and although the engine and transmission are freshly rebuilt, (2018/19) everything is still present and pretty much the way it left the factory in 1969. More about this great car as soon as we have it and its ready to show in our showroom. More info on this great car, more pics, and a walkaround video will follow soon, for more questions or information or to make a reservation on the car ahead of its arrival please contact our sales.

  • Guide: Matching numbers

In the collector car hobby, most investment-minded buyers are acutely interested in a specific car’s history. One of the main aspects of that history is an original or, as most people state it, numbers-matching drivetrain. At pedaltothemetal muscecars we feature a plethora of original and numbers-matching classics including ‘Cudas, Road Runners, Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes and Trans Ams. And, if a potential buyer knows how to properly identify and interpret certain manufacturing codes, they can further validate their car’s history, or on request we can provide it.

  • Vehicle claims and descriptions

Vehicle/product descriptions, representations and claims on or offline are based on what can be seen by the human eye, documentation, previous professional experience, opinion, factory claims, and, or, information passed on to us by previous owners or restorers. It's to the best of our knowledge that everything we advertise has all indications of being that claim. Please inquire as to what documentation we have on the vehicle you are purchasing or feel free to ask any additional questions you might have, But by no means you can accept our answers as facts as the are our interpretation and might not match yours. It is with integrity and honesty that we describe our cars, but they are in fact, up to 50 years old, may have had many previous owners, modifications or alterations that are unknown to the us, so it's not possible to verify everything about every car in detail. Thereby the stated conditions or details of a car can never ever be taken as a fact. As always we welcome personal inspections and or independent appraisers prior to a sale. Incase we speak of "Original" or "Matching numbers" it means that we asume that to be the case, but with old classic cars thats by no means a guarantee. So please feel free to verify that in person or with a third party.

Pttm goes a step further than almost every other seller(s), as we also do a full inspection of our vehicles prior to having them for sale in our showroom and make repairs improvements if needed so. And when a vehicle/product is sold we give it a full service check before you receive it !
