This super rare1969 Ford Mustang Fastback - R code Mach1 428 SCJ big block car is fantastic and all original and restored condition. Finding a real 69' Mach 1 in good condition is rare, but finding the king of kings, the Super Cobra Jet with its 428 big block is even rarer! This car is one of only very few builds that was equipped from the factory with its SCJ engine and Dragpack 3,91 V code axle package. PTTM is very proud to present this great and rare car to its clients. The 69' model for most Mustang purists is the best looking model ever produced.
With only around 2500 R code Mach 1's build in 1969 this car is already in a very rare league, but with its Dragpack 3,91 rear end axle and special performance parts and SCJ engine, and its automatic transmission is believed to be one of only around 2-300 ever produced cars, and if you then also would consider its rare color its maybe one of a handful ever to be produced. For a Mustang that's like finding a holy grail of rare Ford muscle cars and its also much rarer than most Shelby's!
We found this car in Arizona a well known state for fantastic and rust free super dry classic cars. Its was for sale by the wife of the owner who sadly had past away. The car was in very good overall condition but had stood in the garage for a while and it needed some improvements and the drive train needed a full rebuild and upgrade as well. She was looking to find a new home for the car and after some promises and showing here what cars we already had restored in the past, and that we would get this car back to its former original glory as well, she was convinced and she decided we could purchase the car were here husband had taken great care of for all these years. Thanks again Judy, we will do all we can to do what we promised!
According to our full inspection and the story's of the previous owners this car was still 100% original in body and structure and details. And we can truly state that after we stripped the car completely for its restoration we were stunned to see that the body, floors and almost all its components were indeed untouched and original to the car and a perfect candidate for some updates and improved detailing to make it as great as it was when it was sold new. Its by far the best Mustang fastback body we have ever come across. We are currently in the process of rebuilding the engine and the complete drive line and also restore the rest of the car to make sure it will be just as stunning as the day it left the factory.
The car's additional bonus is the fact that it also painted in its factory original and very desirable Gulfstream aqua metallic paint, a color that really makes the Mach1 fastback stand out. The 1969 Mustang Mach1, especially in this amazing color combination is believed to be one of the best-looking Mustangs ever produced. With its dual headlights special grill and the three-piece taillights and sharp lines and especially in this color it is hard to argue with that.
The first original owner must have thought the same when he ordered the car back in 1968/69. He also knew exactly what he wanted and that was a true performance car without any weight adding luxury options that would hold its own on the streets and stop lights, maybe he even ordered the car for drag racing on Sunday and cruising it home on Monday, as the car was, at the time, about the best performance car Ford had to offer to its clients back than. The car is a pure classic Muscle and race car thoroughbred in every sense of the word.
With its 428 FE , shaker equipped Super Cobra Jet engine, its C6 special SCJ automatic transmission and especially its race purpose build 3.91 geared Drag pack as options must have meant the owner really wanted to have one of the fastest cars around. Its lack of many deluxe items on the options list also clearly indicates that. And although he must left a small fortune on the counter of the Brandywine Ford Dealership in Newark DE on January the 27th of 1969 for this expensive car, as we learned from the Marti-report that comes with the car. He apparently never really raced the car later on in its life as it is way to nice for that today. And seeing it also carries its original engine, a combination you wont find on a car that was actually raced in the early 70's. So instead he probably decided to keep it and pamper it.
Everything on this car still appears to be factory original, and although the engine and transmission are freshly rebuilt, (2019) everything is still present and pretty much the way it left the factory in 1969. The original interior is in stunning condition, almost just like the day it was purchased, the new and fresh quality paint job is stunning with a great shine and all emblems, trim, suspension and steering systems, all rubbers and bushings and everything else that you see on the car is just in as new, but all correct and original style condition. The engine and transmission and complete drive line were rebuild to factory original specs by PTTM and ready for the next 100k miles, it just cant get any better than that.
And keep in mind that most SCJ or even normal 428 FE engine cars you see for sale might seem to be original, but when you look closer and really inspect them the almost never carry the real gem that makes them a rare SCJ or true 428 car in the first place... Namely there original engine and transmission, and therefor the are just aren't true actual SCJ's anymore. This car however is not only a SCJ by name only, but also by pure pedigree with al it's original parts, engine and details still in place. So don't confuse this car with just any car that carries the SJC name.
The 428 SCJ engine was also not just some name upgrade of the base 428 CJ but a specially developed engine that was build with much more precision and special components than say a base 428 or even a Cobra jet. And although the CJ and SCJ used the same 428 castings, the blocks that were used for the SCJ were the best of the assembly line and the were handpicked and only the best blocks got the ok stamp to be build into SJC's.
The Super Cobra Jet engine was than equipped with amongst other details, a special forged crankshafts, special heavy duty piston rod's, special pistons, piston rings, heavy duty main caps, special performance camshaft and lifters and a special balancer to name some. The power the made was close to 400+HP, especially when also equipped with the Ram air intake system such as this car has.
These engines were hand build by Ford specialist and made much more power than Ford ever dare to state in there brochures. In the car we present to you here, all these special internals are still in place as were many SCJ cars had them replaced over the years for stock 428 cranks and parts, but not this one!, its a real correct SCJ engine inside and out.
So if you are looking for the best looking Mustang fastback ever, and a true Mach 1, with the fastest Big block Ford had to offer back than, and a car that's not only all correct and original in all its aspects but that's also a real icon and a true Muscle car in every sense of the word, than this might well be the car for you. Its not only a great car to own and enjoy, but also a great investment and a real high-end collector car. With its 3.91 rear end Dragpack packages this car is a real piece of Muscle car history and its also completely checked, rebuild and restored and detailed correctly, so what more could you ask for?
As you can see on the pictures the car is restored in concour's condition and everything you see was either restored or rebuild, its also equipped with new suspension, brake systems, new correct dual exhaust with correct end tips, factory original wheels with white letter tires and much more. No cost were spared to make this 69 Mach1 SJC one of the best and for sure most original ones around, so its also not just an over restored car that has all new but non of its factory original parts. And that combined with its untouched all solid body, floors and structure makes this one hell of a great high end Musclecar for any collector or Mustang fan.
You wont find a better one and for this price you wont even be able to have one restored. Its all turn key, tested and ready to be driven and enjoyed.
According to most professional car appraisers and Classic mustang experts the value of this amazing SCJ and in this color and equipped with these rare parts and options would be around 150000,- or more. That's s well above the price we will ask for the car when its done, restoration included. So it will leave for growth and is a very healthy investment for its future owner.
As stated above we promised the wife of the last owner to find the car a great new home, so keep in mind we would like to keep that promise and we hope that we can find someone for this car that will pamper and take care of it just as good as the last owners have done the last 50 years.
