This genuine 1971 Plymouth Barracuda CUDA with 383 big block and TF727 trans that was high-end rotisserie restored and is very original and all numbers match. Its painted in the very rare Winchester gray (A4 code) factory original color that really looks amazing and makes this rare car stand out. The car is unique and LOADED with all the desirable options !
With only approx 1100 units built in 1971. This 383 big block car is a rare find in itself indeed and combine that with the fact that this car is still all original and carries its factory original numbers matching drivetrain. It is ultra rare color, and many extra ordered factory options and you will understand that this car is unique. With the production of genuine muscle cars dropping in the early 70's because of the upcoming fuel crisis, the production of the 1971 Cuda was less than 1/3 than that of the 1970 model year.
The 1971 model year saw some design changes and upgrades to the 1970 model but these changes were absolutely spot on and made the car look even beefier and more aggressive than the already gorgeous 70'model. The car received a completely new front end with dual headlights and an all-new designed grill and lower front valance panel, newly designed taillights that were now 2 piece models and the unique, 1971 only, fender gills and some other upgrades like new interior seat designs. For some, the 1971 Plymouth Cuda was one of the best-looking muscle cars of all times and we can't disagree with that !.
Starting with the base model, the Barracuda, that could be ordered with either a slant six engine, a 318cui V8 or even a 340cui V8 engine, the real performance cars were the optional CUDA cars that were equipped with many special performance packages and had the higher output engine options. These Barracuda CUDA cars were unique and distinctively different than the base models. The could be ordered with the 330hp 383cui 4bbl V8. Than the 440-sixpack engine and the top of the line was the Hemi 426 cui V8. With the 440cui 4bbl engine no longer available in 1971, the 383 4bbl car was the best buy for sure.
For that money you got all the performance you would need in this amazing looking car. The 383 big block is and was a great engine and besides giving great performance it was also very strong and reliable, hence the fact that the original engine is still (although rebuild) in the car today.
When the first owner walked into the showroom back in 1971 to order his brand new Cuda, he apparently didn't care about the higher fuel prices. He knew exactly what he wanted and ordered his own personal car with great taste and a vision of what would be a fast and awesome looking car in combination with good driveability and comfort. It turned out as a true gentleman's sports car with great style and taste. Just look at the car's great color combo and the rare M91 special ordered stylish luggage rack and you must agree that this guy had a great taste for combining the best of what the Plymouth option list had to offer in the early 70's.
And looking at this cars huge list of special options, the price tag of this car new, must have come close to the price of a Hemi Cuda!. But in 1971 the high priced Hemi Cuda was in fact still a very basic car were things such as a desirable Rally dash, Power steering, and Power front disc brakes were not base equipment. Even the Hemi-Cuda came from the factory with manual drum brakes and not even a tacho !. But as stated, this owner wanted more than power alone and hence this car was ordered equipped with its huge list of special options.
The car we present to you here is a genuine 1971 Cuda and below you can see its special options ordered from new. Besides it being one of only 1100 ever produced 383-4bbl Cuda's, that combined with its options makes it one of maybe a handful of cars ever built worldwide. And the 383-4bbl engine makes more than enough power to let the tires spin all day long if you don't be careful. A very rare car indeed and highly desirable and collectible today, especially in this completely no-cost spared restoration.
The car was completely rotisserie restored and build to the highest possible standards. Every nut, bolt, and a screw was apart and then build back up again after a meticulously inspection and restoration to get this Cuda back in its factory original condition. It's not an understatement that the car might even look better today, and is of a higher quality than when it was picked up by the new owner back in 1971.
Before the restoration started the body, floors and chassis of the car were all still in very original and solid condition and didn't need any large amount of work in that department. It was clearly well taken care of in all those years before the restoration started. And with all factory original details and options, and its complete drivetrain still in place it was decided to restore the car back to its former glory. No cost was spared and we estimate that more than 150k was spent on all the work done to get it back in this shape, that's without the price or value of the car itself once the started.
Today this car looks just amazing and everything is in as new condition. The paint job on the car was done very professionally and has an awesome shine and the underside of the car was also completely sandblasted and painted in the correct factory colors as well !. How often do you get to see a car that looks just as good from above as below? Just look at the pictures and the will show you how good this Cuda was restored.
With prices of 71 Cuda's keep on ricing and ricing and with Hemi-Cuda's already going for several millions of dollars from one owner to the next, this rare car might well be your best chance in ever owning one of these rare and great looking beauty's. Its equipped with every option you might want and for this price you can't even restore one even if you wanted to. And be sure its price will keep on ricing for many years to come just like they have done in the past decade's.

The car also comes with its factory original fender tag, all body and engine, and driveline Vin numbers in place, and we also have 2 factory build sheets with it to prove its original pedigree, There are also many pictures of the restoration in our files and we also have the original owners manual. Even the replaced original dealer stickers and door tags are still with the car. It just doesn't get much better than this!
