General discription

This real 1967 Shelby GT500 with Toploader 4 speed manual transmission. The car is an original Nightmist blue car with white Shelby side stripes and black deluxe interior. The car is also a rare and factory correct "inboard" fog light car and comes with its functional side scoops and other special details that's typically and ONLY found on the Early production cars which makes them also very sought after and more collectible even than the later production cars.

With only around 9-10% of the GT500's produced in this color combination, and of them only around 6% were 4 speeds this is considered a rare car. Especially because it's an actual Early production Shelby, completely correct and all the body and engine and trans-Vin numbers in place. The car is in the Shelby registry and comes with a Marti report to prove its original pedigree. Very rare indeed.

The car is currently in its un restored original, low miles survivor condition, but we have it for sale for clients who like to have it restored by us on request or perform the restoration personally. The car carries all of its original parts and the interior is also in very nice and all original condition and that in itself makes it a rare find indeed. The car also carries all its original Shelby numbers and stamps. The complete drive train is already being rebuild as we speak.

The car was produced on January 27 in 1967 (Early production) and shipped in April '67 to a North Dakota dealer called Wallwork Fargo inc, who sold the car new in late August of the same year to the First Owner, Kenn Collings in Indiana and later on it was sold to the second owner who lived in Palmetto Florida. It appears this car was sold one more time (so a 3 owner car) as the last owner also lived in Palmetto Florida. The car, therefore, spent its entire! life in the so-called dry and sunny states and that might declare why the car is still in very original and good overall condition today.

With the 428 FE police interceptor engine that was tuned by Carroll Shelby and upgraded, amongst other details, with a dual quad intake with 2 Holley carb's these cars were unique. Especially when they were hooked up to the famous top loader 4-speed manual trans, as performance to the rear axle was then almost 95% instead of only around 60-65 % with an automatic transmission. And seeing Ford didn't sell any 428 big block engines in there Mustangs until later in 1968, the 67 Shelby GT500 were one of a kind cars.

The cars are all produced in the Shelby production plant and not as the later 68-1970 models with Ford. This all combined makes 1967, besides being a fantastic model in itself, true Shelby's that still carried the Shelby race and performance pedigree. Something later models lost somewhat as the production of Carroll's cars was re-located to Ford factory's.

We won't start telling you who Carroll Shelby was and what made him famous and unique in car and race history, as this man might well be one of the greatest and well-known car icons the world has ever seen. This next to Enzo Ferrari, a name he also knew very well and who's car's he had beaten on the race tracks more than once. So he dos not need any further introduction we assume.

The car we present to you here is in our shop, and more info on the car and the restoration plan's and costs/quote can be discussed.  The car is for sale as is or in combination with a  restoration in our shop, which we can do from driver quality up to show Concours quality levels on request. But of course you are also free to perform the work yourself or in combination with us and with our help or guidance.

We already are in the process of rebuilding the complete original 428 engine and its 4 speed transmission and the are included ( fully rebuild & bleu printed) in the sales price as stated below. More than 20k alone was already invested in the correct factory style rebuild. On request we can also install them and sell the car running and driving also.

So all in all this way you can either follow the restoration process and determine the quality level and personal choices or upgrades you might want in person here or do them all yourself. PTTM has performed many high quality and award winning restorations and you can expect nothing but the best from us.

This is a unique change to see and follow your future Shelby being restored and you will know exactly what you get and prefer, as this way you can really see the complete process, all detailing and be 100% sure the car is going to be as you want it. We will, of course, take pictures and videos of the complete process. Payments can be made throughout the during of the process by invoicing as we never ask any payments ahead, this way the cost of the restoration will be spread throughout the process. On request we can also restore the car at a fix-price, pending on your requirements and desired quality level.

If you want us to perform the restoration we can either perform it as a driver-show quality car or as a Concours price winner, or even as a semi-survivor car with only a rebuild and restored drive train and complete check of all tech items, that's up to your liking. Seeing this car is already very original, solid and complete, this car is a perfect candidate for either a full restoration or even a partial one. And in the end, you will have a fantastic all original, numbers matching rare Shelby that's able to steal every first price on car shows and classic car events depending on your goals.

The car is a true collector's item and an investment grade car. Its history in brand name and status is legendary and its one of the last true Shelby car's. With prices for restored 67' Shelby's GT500's going up and up, this car is priced very interesting indeed. Especially with it being an Early car and very original and complete and with its original driveline already completely rebuild that will come with the car included in the asking price. This way you can for instance also choose to drive now and restore later.

We have seen correctly restored original cars getting sold for well over 350k on auctions last year, and those were not even Early production cars. like this car, that are even more desirable. Prices will also keep rising for future years to come, just as they have done so in the past 50 years....

But besides that, these big block fastbacks Shelby's are fantastic cars to drive and own, especially the 4 speeds. So don't wait too long, if you ever wanted a true 67 GT500 in the best condition you can get it, then this might be your chance to own one or ad it to your current collection.

The below stated price is for the car as is, non driving, but complete and with its fresh rebuild original engine and transmission.

  • Guide: Matching numbers

In the collector car hobby, most investment-minded buyers are acutely interested in a specific car’s history. One of the main aspects of that history is an original or, as most people state it, numbers-matching drivetrain. At pedaltothemetal muscecars we feature a plethora of original and numbers-matching classics including ‘Cudas, Road Runners, Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes and Trans Ams. And, if a potential buyer knows how to properly identify and interpret certain manufacturing codes, they can further validate their car’s history, or on request we can provide it.

  • Vehicle claims and descriptions

Vehicle/product descriptions, representations and claims on or offline are based on what can be seen by the human eye, documentation, previous professional experience, opinion, factory claims, and, or, information passed on to us by previous owners or restorers. It's to the best of our knowledge that everything we advertise has all indications of being that claim. Please inquire as to what documentation we have on the vehicle you are purchasing or feel free to ask any additional questions you might have, But by no means you can accept our answers as facts as the are our interpretation and might not match yours. It is with integrity and honesty that we describe our cars, but they are in fact, up to 50 years old, may have had many previous owners, modifications or alterations that are unknown to the us, so it's not possible to verify everything about every car in detail. Thereby the stated conditions or details of a car can never ever be taken as a fact. As always we welcome personal inspections and or independent appraisers prior to a sale. Incase we speak of "Original" or "Matching numbers" it means that we asume that to be the case, but with old classic cars thats by no means a guarantee. So please feel free to verify that in person or with a third party.

Pttm goes a step further than almost every other seller(s), as we also do a full inspection of our vehicles prior to having them for sale in our showroom and make repairs improvements if needed so. And when a vehicle/product is sold we give it a full service check before you receive it !
