1972 rare! and original, shark nose Z28, in great condition and equipped with many additional factory options and in a fantastic color combination.
With only around 2500 Z28's build in 1972 it's also the rarest Camaro Z28 since the started producing them back in 1967 and even in 1973 the production numbers were 11000 ! against only approx. 2500 in 1972! This was due to many strikes that year and the ever increasing demand for more fuel-efficient and more environmental friendly cars. And how many of these 2500 cars are still left today ? and are still original, numbers match and in this condition? Well who knows but not many, we can assure you that.
This car, however, is a true Z28, not one of the thousands of clones that are for sale on the market, it still carries its factory numbers matching engine and drive train and is therefore very collectible and desirable. The car comes in its factory original color and Z28 stripes with black bucket seat interior, floor-horseshoe style shifter and console, power steering and power front disc brakes. The car also stands on its original rare Z28 specific wheels and original spare how rare is that? In a world were most original cars were hacked up or changed so much that you can hardly even call them original anymore.
The body and floors are all in very solid and rust free condition and the paint has a great shine as well. The car is equipped with the factory style rear and front spoiler and dual painted racing mirrors and it has the rally dash with tacho. With the 2nd generation Camaro being officially accepted as one of the best handling and performing Camaro's ever build, the Z28 steps up even more with its additional sporty suspension and steering combination packages. Its a great steering and handling car and fun to drive.
The car is painted in its factory original and rare flame orange color with the factory original (YF8 code) Z28 stripes and it has the custom deluxe black interior, a superb color combination indeed that you almost never see. The 72 Camaro Z28 came with the 1 piece front bumper with bumper guards and that bumper is on the car today. On request, we can also sell the car with the RS style split bumpers, but these are not original to the car as officially only the RS cars had these, but they do look great on these cars. With most Camaro's that are left today being far from original and most of them have been cloned into SS cars or Z28' look likes, with the original engines, car color, and interior style long gone, this Camaro Z28 is in amazing and very honest overall condition, to say the least.
We personally love the shark nose style Camaro's as they look very aggressive and have great style elements, but the most important feature of these second-generation Camaro's is the fact that the drive and handle very well and much better than most people know or realize. The power of the 350cui V8 was factory rated at 260HP instead of 330 HP in 1971, but that was only due to please the environmental lobby and more important because of the change in the way a car's HP/Torque was measured. In1972 it was done way more realistically than in the years before as was demanded by law. Now engines needed all their accessories in place during the Dyno session and also needed to be tuned exactly as the cars that came on for sale as were in previous years this was not the case, hence the higher HP output on paper. In 1972 the Z28 still ran the 1/4 mile in 14 sec's !, very respectable times that many. many other cars didn't make by far.
But in fact, the 71 engine was almost exactly the same as the previous years with only some minor changes to please the insurance companies and ever stricter environmental law's in some states, but in fact these changes could be made undone pretty easily and so the 1972 350 Cui made the same or even more HP and torque than the say 71 cars had.
This car just can't be compared with just any Camaro on the markets today as its quality and general technical and functional condition are very good. If you're looking for a true and original Z28, in a very rare color and interior combination with all of its factory details and engine and transmission still in place, and all in very good overall condition with a super straight and rust-free body and chassis than this must be the car you want.
Keep in mind that these real Z28's are becoming very rare indeed as they are one of the last true classic muscle cars and prices of them will keep on growing in years to come as all rare and quality Muscle cars do. And with this 1972 model being amongst the rarest of them, its the one to look for if you want one. With prices of the 69'model going well over the 100k marker, these second generation cars will follow that direction soon as well. So don't wait to long if you want one as there still "affordable" and more important, available.
The car we present to you here is besides very original and rare and a great investment, also great fun to own and enjoy and it's completely inspected and tested in our shop before it entered the showroom floor. So it's not a car that needs work and its turn key ready. Its a great investment for your hard earned cash, as well as great fun to own, show and enjoy for many more years to come.
