Custom build of a 1950's Merc 2 door coupe
Lars from the Netherlands was always a real car guy. He owns a few Muscle cars. But he wanted a lifelong dream. A Chopped 50's Mercury custom build!
This dream came true when PTTM found him a 1950's Merc in the USA. The car we found had a more or less untouched and very solid body and chassis that had a Chevy 350 V8 and a TH350 trans as driveline. The car drove pretty well and so it was a perfect base for Lars to start with.
After we imported the car for him and made it ready to be driven on the Dutch roads he enjoyed the car the summer that followed. He even made a long trip to Sweden with it to visit the famous Big-Meet for inspiration for his new project. After the summer we had many talks on how the car should look and what new driveline the car should get and together with us he made decisions on how the car should be transformed into that dream car.
Some of the choices made, are:
The roof will get a minor top chop and the body will get some other special styling details. The chassis and steering, braking and suspension system will all be upgraded to make the car drive and handle better. When that's all done the car will receive a new high-quality coat of paint in a color we still need to choose.
The car will also receive a PTTM build 454 cui performance engine with classic fuel injection ( stacks) and a better transmission with overdrive. The complete interior, wiring system and all the glass and trim will also be restored and redone. All in all the plan is to transform the car into Lars his personal hotrod without going overboard and to keep the classic and specific looks of the car as much as possible.
This project is underway! More news and pictures follow soon! Some of the current pictures are design samples and not of the actual car.
